Guest Blogging for Locked in Stone (#lockedinstone, #giveaways)

Locked-in-Stone-cover

Hey there, everyone. As part of the wonderfulness that is Entangled, I’ve gotten several spectacular opportunities around the blogosphere to meet people, and I’m hoping you’ll check out the posts I do there. My schedule, as of now, is as follows:

  1. 2/25 – Facebook Event. I’m doing a release party with my fellow Covet and 2/23/15 release author, Nichole Severn. We’ll be sharing deleted scenes and giving away gift cards, along with sharing what makes our books special.
  2. 2/26 – Bitten by Books – I’m doing a chat/release party with Bitten by Books, starting at 3p Pacific Time (6p Eastern time – thanks again to BBB, for moving the start time to after work for me).
  3. 2/26 – Fresh Fiction – Blog post about why you read and sharing why and what I read.
  4. 2/27 – Writerspace – Blog post on looking for unusual tropes involving the heroine.
  5. 2/27 – RhiRheading – Blog post discussing who I’d pick to do voices for my gargoyles, rather than the oh-so-traditional actors to play them.
  6. 3/2 – Book Lovin’ Mamas – Blog post regarding a variety of topics.
  7. 3/6 – Bitten by Romance – Blog post talking about the development of my gargoyles and the lore associated with them.

So, that’s my upcoming schedule. I hope to see lots of you out there!

Tory’s Ramblings (2/16/2015) #lockedinstone, #dentaldemons

And the beat goes on.

On Writing

Have you ever left a project undone and months, or even years, later realize how much you actually want to finish it? Even if that project’s one that may well never see the light of day again? The Dream-Walker War is that project for me. I really want to finish it, but…the first three didn’t go well. I’m considering self-publishing the two Chris/Jordan books and seeing if, when combined with an audience gained from Locked, that might overcome the problems before. Because the majority seemed to like it…the problem was, there was almost no numbers at all to the people that made up the majority. So, we shall have to see.

Locked in Stone

Three days until release. I’m getting really nervous. And pretty excited. I’m of course haunting Goodreads and checking out the reviews – yes, I know looking at reviews shouldn’t be done, buuuut it’s actually proving very insightful for me. It’s true, Locked doesn’t have a particularly high romance factor in it, and that’s being brought up in the reviews. BUT, and I’m definitely taking this away from the reviews, people really like my writing and my world-building. I’m just missing the mark when it comes to romance. Sooo, valuable insight gained! Can’t win everyone over, but hey…it’s getting reviewed. Yaaay! Here’s the cover, just in case you haven’t seen it!

Sealed in Stone

I finally finished an outline for it and I’ve started actually writing on it again. Which is good. I hadn’t in a little time. It’s slow going, but the things I’ve gotten from readers of Locked is really going to help me out in writing it and getting the romance quotient right the first time.

 On Children

Not much to report. I finally stopped being a bad mommy and faced my dental demons by taking the boy to the dentist. Things will be handled. He was glad to go, though he missed being at school (what’s wrong with that boy?!). Check out the dentist office set-up! Why weren’t they like this when I was a kid?

Dentist Chair

And here are my little darlings making birthday cakes from mud!

Weight Loss

It’s slow going but I think I’m seeing a loss. My pants feel a bit different, so I’ll hold to that. The downside of going to an old-fashioned, non-battery-operated scale? The numbers aren’t digital, you have to see the little needle lining up with little hash marks. Ugh. I’ve found some nice chocolate substitutes though.

Conclusion

So, that’s it. I’ll have a post up Monday with all the wonderful places you can go to get Locked if you’re itching to get your hands on it AND a list of where you can find me to celebrate! Have a fantastic weekend!

Tory’s Ramblings (2/12/15) #candycrushsoda, #candycrushsaga

Yeah, I know, I’m still working on getting regular again. So sorry folks. But let’s jump into it.

Changes to Website

So, as you can see, I’ve started tweaking my site again. Nothing major, just added a blogroll and a couple other things. I’ve been updating my Book page as I’ve been getting links for Locked when it releases in … 11 DAYS! Yikes. Getting nervous.

Locked in Stone

Nerves are kicking in. I’ve actually got a couple of great opportunities to promote the book (guest blog at Bitten by Books and two Facebook events), and it’s far beyond anything I’ve done before, so I’m pretty psyched about it. A few reviews have trickled in thus far, working on drumming more up before release day so people see the book on Goodreads and think “I gotta read that!” Surprisingly, my sales rank is currently better than what I had 99% of the time for all of my other books and it’s not even out. I’m kinda happy, okay very happy, about that. Silly, but true.

Diet

Ohhh, how I hate that, and my workplace is actively conspiring against me, I swear. I’m holding strong thus far (10 days in or so), even though the office has had 2 birthdays (chocolate cake and ice cream last Friday, key lime pie on Monday (with a leftover pie that just won’t go away), a vanilla crème cake that showed up this afternoon (Thursday), and homemade banana bread) and has now put out a candy dish at the reception desk. ::headdesk:: Friday the building is hosting a treat afternoon in honor of Valentine’s Day on Saturday. Sigh. Chocolate, chocolate everywhere and I’m having to avoid it all.

However, on a positive note, I found this sugar free chocolate sauce/syrup that doesn’t throw me out of ketosis AND tastes incredible, so I can get a coffee from the coffee shop (the Urban Grind) downstairs when the itch gets really bad. So there’s that.

Our scale was/is a mess, so honestly, I have no idea what my start point was, but we got a good old-fashioned non-digital one and I’ve now got a base weight to go off of. As you’ll see if you scroll to your right, I’ve started a weight-loss ticker, just to non-obtrusively share my ongoing successes.

The one missing aspect of all of this is exercise. Working on when/how to get that in. It’s a challenge since, thanks to the demon dog Rue racing around and barking to go out/have water, within five minutes of getting up I usually have at least one, if not both, of the Shrimpettes up. Can’t go out if they’re up, since hubby’s asleep.

Fun and Games

I really enjoy doing the daily crossword you can find at Dictionary.com. I’m not spectacular at them, but I like that it’ll tell you if a letter’s wrong. What about you? Do you do puzzles like that? I used to adore doing word-searches and Sudoku.

Now, though, my addiction of choice is Candy Crush Soda Saga. Per hubby, sadists must have created it and it is likely responsible for serial killers snapping because the insane difficulty as you go up in levels. Have you ever played it or it’s predecessor, Candy Crush? What’s your game of choice?

Conclusion

So, that’s it for today.  Have a great night!

Tory’s Ramblings (2/2/2015) – #juryduty #guilty

Happy Monday! I was in the midst of jury duty on Friday so couldn’t really post at that point. I didn’t have much to say on the matter.

On Jury Duty

DuvalCountyCourthouse

Interior2 Interior1

Well, I survived. It was absolutely phenomenal. I loved getting to sit in on the trial as a whole and actually see the so-called “wheels of justice” turn. We found the defendant guilt of manslaughter by act (that was a lesser included charge, the main charge was premeditated attempted murder) and another crime. I was the foreperson for the jury, which was cool too. In this case I can totally say that the prosecution (and the Jax PD) absolutely failed to prove their case. I’ll not go into specifics of just how badly the police screwed up, just leave it that they did.

I loved the judge and his annoyance with the multiple technology fails we had. He was great to listen to.

I unfortunately snort/giggled during one of the closing arguments. The court room was perfectly silent except for that so, erm, oops. But the way the attorney put the comment, I couldn’t keep it in.

The trial itself took two days – I didn’t get done with deliberations and let out until 5:45 Friday evening. And let me say, they are serious when they are having you deliberate. I had to send a note to the judge, then get everyone assembled back in the courtroom for the judge to answer my question – which was a request to call home to make sure Hubby could pick up the Shrimpettes. That was embarrassing to say the least.

On Children

They’re all still alive, which is always a good thing. They’re all still currently up and running, so no massive illnesses at the moment. I can live with that.

On Dieting

Sign. Hubby’s taken this one in hand and dragged me onto the Atkins thing. It worked before, before we had kids, so I know that if I’m good and actually stick to it, it should work. We shall see. He’s suffering along with me though so that’s something. And I have my one semi-deviation from it. I do not take my caffeinated beverages (aka diet coke, diet pepsi, sugar-free mios, etc.) off the table. There’s no calories, so they are not carbed up. I drank them just fine the last time and it worked wonderfully. I have, however, temporarily sworn off coffee. Without the good creamer, I’m not sure I really want to drink it. Sad, but true.

Locked in Stone

Squeal – it’s up on NetGalley (Friday), Amazon, and Goodreads now. Coming on 2/23. Can’t wait can’t wait can’t wait!!!

Super Bowl 2015

The game was awesome. The commercials…one of them in particular was hilarious – Liam Neeson and Clash of Clans. Hehe. If you haven’t seen it, google it and WATCH IT!

And then there was Half Time with Katy, Lenny, and Missy. I love Lenny in Hunger Games, but had never really listened to his music/accepted him as the rocker he’s known as. And then he popped out at the Super Bowl and let’s just say I’m still drooling. Yes, shallow, but the man is HOT!

LennySuper, super hot. And Katy was, of course, fantastic. Loved her “Fireworks” song. Still giggle over it though because on top of the Madagascar 3 memories it invokes, I also now think of The Interview, because that was Kim Jon-Il’s favorite song and such a funny part of the movie.

In Conclusion

So – that’s my life in a nutshell right now. Back to work and all that good stuff.
