My rating: 5 of 5 gargoyles
I adored this book. Killian, as the quiet, behind the scenes, unappreciated (by and large) kicker for the Sante Fe Bobcats definitely spun my wheels. He had a reason for being so unobtrusive, and he was utterly devoted to his son. I just wish we could have known WHY he was so protective a little sooner. Until the big reveal, I was rolling my eyes at the extreme lengths he went to to stay out of the spotlight.
Aileen – her choice at the end was a great one and I loved how while she wanted to make it big as a reporter, she wasn’t necessarily impatient about it or totally cut-throat. Her way of getting closer to Killian to get the story was innovative and showed her patience with her career, despite feeling like she was letting her mom and dad down by not having hit it big yet.
It was nice to see the previous couple show up and see how Aileen meshed with her, keeping her integrity intact along the way.
Definitely enjoyed this and am looking forward to the next book soon.
