Thursday Word-Slingers – Guest Raven McAllen

Good morning/afternoon/evening, ladies and gents. It’s my great pleasure to introduce you all to Raven McAllen, fellow Evernight author (among many other awesome publishers she’s with). To the interview (and yes, there’s a contest…with TWO lucky winners).

1) How long have you been writing?

Properly, seriously just over a year, but scribbling? Ever since I could write. I won a competition at primary school about where chocolate comes from. The prize was chocolate, so it was the start of two great love affairs!

2) How many balls do you juggle on a daily basis, and how do you manage to keep them all in the air (usually), (ball = work, writing, family, etc.)

Luckily at the moment I don’t work out with the house. And I’m allergic to housework, so the dust bunnies live happily under the bed. Our children are all grown up and away, and my D H is used to seeing me with a laptop attached.

3) When is your next release due out and can you tell the audience about it?

I have two books out on Match 9th

Almost Entente Cordiale (regency erotica)

A woman with two husbands – husbands who are lovers – a relationship doomed to failure?

Only she can decide.

When Julien returns from France he did not expect to find his lover ballock deep inside a woman. Especially when that woman is his own wife!

Christianne knew Alastair had a lover, but she did not expect that lover to be the husband she thought was dead.

As a marriage of convenience turns passionate, can the three of them make their illicit relationship work?

Or will Christianne have to choose which husband to keep?

and The Price to Pay  (contemporary)

Do a friend a favor? Easy. Persuade the woman she’s your soul-mate – not so easy. Does this cougar romance stand a chance?

Raig was doing a favor for a friend – babysitting mum. Who’d have thought that ‘mum’ turned out to be the woman of his dreams?

Raig could see their future, Vairi could only see the age difference. He may say you were only as old as the man you feel but she couldn’t do the forever he wanted. Too many obstacles stood in their way, especially when she finds out Raig has not been telling her the truth by omission. She too has secrets she’s not willing to share. Can they open up, be honest and put their doubts behind them?  Then discover how satisfying a cougar romance can be?

4) What is it about the romantic suspense and historical romance genres that you like so much?

I love finding out what happened all those years ago, how their minds worked (no different to us  today actually) Suspense it’s the will it won’t it work out? And if so how?

5) Do you think you’ll move to a third genre, and if yes, what to and when? If not, why not?

I’m actually moving into YA with a different hat on. It’s a real challenge. Getting it perfect and believable. I have a series contracted. And I’m sort of getting into paranormal as well, but it’s scary! Although I have had a paranormal contracted by Noble Romance.

6) Silliness 1: Sweet or sour?

Oh sweet every time.

7) Silliness 2:

Chocolate or vanilla ice cream? Vanilla, my love of chocolate is only for the real stuff.

As usual, it’s pretty easy to enter to win. TWO lucky commenters will win this week though. Raven is offering a copy of Almost Entente Cordiale and The Price to Pay. Winnesr to be announced next Friday (3/16). Good luck!
